Dave Chappelle Joins Spike Lees Chiraq

Publish date: 2024-06-19

Spike Lee’s Chiraq, a musical comedy about Chicago’s street violence, just found another big name. The director announced on Instagram that Dave Chappelle has joined the cast, which reportedly includes Wesley Snipes, John Cusack, and — wait for it — Nick Cannon as a rapper. As if that small detail wasn’t confusing enough, Spike is also now referring to the film on social media as Chi-raq, presumably using the hyphen to help those somehow still unfamiliar with the phrase to pronounce it. (Or because he feels like it.) Still no Kanye, though.
