Lanny Poffo, more commonly known as “leaping” Lanny Poffo, brother of the late WWE wrestler “Macho Man” Randy Savage, has died at age 68. 

Former WWE wrestler “Hacksaw” Jim Duggan announced the death of “leaping” Lanny Poffo on Twitter in the following words: “With a very, very heavy heart, I’ve been asked to let everyone know about the passing of our friend and colleague Lanny Poffo, The Genius.”

Lanny Poffo’s brother, “Macho Man” Randy Savage, passed away in 2011 at age 58. The wrestling legend suffered a heart attack while driving his Jeep in the Tampa Bay area.

Lanny Poffo’s death surprised many as he had no known illness. His friends and family were sad and shocked upon hearing this tragic news. Many of his former colleagues shared condolences on social media

Who was Lanny Poffo?

Lanny Poffo was a Canadian-American professional wrestler best known as “Leaping” Lanny Poffo or The Genius in the ring.

He was born on December 28, 1954, and died on February 2, 2023, at age 68. The wrestler made his professional debut in 1974 with the All-South Wrestling Alliance.

He won a Tag-Team Championship alongside his father, Angelo Poffo. The younger brother of the late Randy Savage, Poffo’s wrestling career was highlighted by a victory over Hulk Hogan.

People started calling Lanny Poffo “The Genius” because he used to wear a graduation cap and gown while fighting other wrestlers. 

Lanny Poffo belonged to a family of professional wrestlers and was the son of the late wrestling icon Angelo Poffo.
